nfl lockout uncertain future of all players NFL Players Association decertified as a union. That means negotiation may be replaced by litigation, in essence putting the brakes on professional football for the first time since 1987.
The collective bargaining agreement between the owners and players technically doesn’t expire until midnight. But the NFLPA had a deadline of 5 p.m. Friday to decertify, clearing the way for individual players to sue the league under antitrust law. Unions
