Severe thunderstorms swept across the Chicago area Monday morning, commuters pouring and leaving more than 765,000 Commonwealth Edison customers without power in the storm on top, and more than half a million still without power Monday after afternoon.
It was the “biggest storm I’ve seen in terms of number of customers affected,” ComEd senior vice president of customer operations Fidel Marquez said, comparing the time of a “blitzkrieg”.
